VRSafe – Virtual Reality environments for operators training towards safe and human centric workplaces

ABOUT VRSafe

VRSafe aims to create safer workplaces by introducing a virtual industrial environment for training operators in safety related processes. By using virtual reality (VR), trainees become more equipped to handle hazardous situations effectively.
VRSafe provides two types of solutions:
1. Simulations of predefined standard predefined scenarios in a generic industrial environment. The project creates the digital twin of a generic industrial environment that simulates typical processes that can be found in most manufacturing companies. Focus will be safety; the user will be called to identify and eliminate hazardous situations and perform all required precautionary activities before performing the simulated process.
2. Customised scenarios on demand for industries that need a more tailored made environment with functionalities of their specific workplace. They have similar educational purposes as the generic scenarios, but they simulate the characteristics of the client company – workspaces, processes, employee skills – more effectively, and the hazardous situations recreated are also defined on the basis of the needs of the specific situation.
Assuming that a series of safety standards have already been employed for commissioning the real industrial applications, the same standards will be incorporated into the tools developed by VRSafe.

GOALS

To create safer workplaces thanks to the Metaverse

To provide companies with customised scenarios on demand

Kilometro Rosso role in VRSafe

Kilometro Rosso will develop guidelines focus on a critical analysis of the literature and the development of guidelines that highlights the effectiveness of VR training for new employees in potentially hazardous roles. The aim is to define the most effective methods to develop training paths using VR, focusing on the needs and usability of users.

Methodology:
Prioritization of User Needs: Criteria and tools will be established to understand the current situation of users and set standards for the development phase.
Intuitive and User-Friendly Design: In collaboration with TF-CC, the VR interactions will be designed to be natural and easy to understand, with continuous iterations and incorporation of user feedback.
Ethical Considerations: The project will adhere to ethical guidelines regarding data collection and informed consent, implementing robust security measures to protect user privacy and data security.
